Beef Curry Chopped Cheese

When my two cultures mix, what comes out is a Beef Curry Chopped Cheese. Inspired by the Kerala beef curry I grew up eating, intertwined with a New York classic. A dish that I promise you doesn't miss. Try it out, and who knows, your local bodega might have it on the menu soon.

What is a Chopped Cheese?

So let's take it back to the 1990's at Hajji's Deli, the orginal creator of this infamous chopped cheese. A New York icon!

Hajji's Chopped Cheese

A chopped cheese has evolved over the past few years, but at its core, it's seasoned meat chopped together with some gooey cheese, all slapped onto a toasted hoagie roll with a sauce of some sort, usually ketchup and mayo, and topped with lettuce and tomatoes.

So what's different with this Beef Curry Chopped Cheese?

Well, I'm glad you asked. My chopped cheese starts with making a Kerala style beef curry. From there, you take that beef curry and chop it together with some onions and bell peppers. Top it with some melted cheese and throw it all onto a toasted hoagie roll with mayo and fresh cilantro.

It's a flavor party in your mouth and blows a normal chopped cheese out of the water (with all due respect). Try it out, and you be the judge.
